Admission

How to apply to SEU

You do not apply to SEU yourself. Contact us and we handle the application for you. Below are the requirements the university sets. Foreign applicants who finished school abroad skip Georgia's national exams, but need their education recognised by NCEQE.

  • The application needs a copy of your passport, school certificate (higher secondary, intermediate, senior or A-level), the application form and proof of English at B1 or above.
  • If you have no English certificate, you take SEU's English test after a successful interview.
  • After acceptance, your passport and school certificate are translated into Georgian with a notary and submitted with the acceptance letter to NCEQE (eqe.ge) for the educational recognition document.
  • SEU receives the ministry order, which its guide says usually takes four to five weeks after the recognition document. You then pay tuition and are enrolled.

Accommodation

Where SEU students live

SEU's materials mention dormitory services, but current third-party guides report that no dormitory is open and students arrange private housing. Confirm the position in writing, and plan to rent an apartment near the metro line.

Lifestyle

Student life in Tbilisi

Tbilisi is Georgia's capital and by far its largest city, with over a million residents. Most of the country's English-taught medical, dental and business programmes are based here, so it has the biggest international student community, the widest choice of housing and the best-connected hospitals.

Around SEU

The campus at 9 Tsinandali Street is a short walk from the 300 Aragveli metro station, which puts the city centre a few stops away. The surrounding district is mainly residential, and rents are typically lower than in Vake or the centre, though you should check listings for the street you are considering.

SEU publishes an orientation guide for international students, and its student affairs department handles payment requests, enrolment and portal activation once your recognition and ministry order are complete.

Getting around
A two-line metro, buses and shared minibuses cover most of the city. A single ride costs about 1 lari and a monthly pass is typically 40-50 lari, so most students never need a car. Ride-hailing apps such as Bolt and Yandex Go are widely used for late-night trips.
Climate
Hot summers, cold winters with occasional snow, and mild spring and autumn. Student housing is centrally heated or gas-heated, so pack a proper winter coat rather than thermal layers.
Food and daily costs
Georgian staples such as khachapuri, khinkali and lobio are inexpensive, and supermarkets and open-air markets sell everyday groceries cheaply. Vegetarian options are easy to find because fasting traditions mean most restaurants offer meat-free dishes. South Asian restaurants and grocers have opened in the city.
Safety and community
Georgia is widely regarded as a safe country for students, with the usual city precautions applying at night and in crowded places. Tbilisi has a large international student community, which makes settling in much easier in the first semester.

Fit

Is SEU right for you?
